What Does Reconciliation Taste Like?

Event Description: 

Gold & Fife designed a momentously meaningful event that reinterpreted the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 83 that pairs Indigenous and Non-Indigenous artists to undertake collaborative projects and produce works that contribute to reconciliation efforts. 

Here culinary artistry took centre stage as an ensemble of 11 Indigenous and Non-Indigenous players and flavours came together. 

Mandate:

This event was part of an annual program, Kingstonlicious, which Gold & Fife designed and curated for Tourism Kingston in 2020 and continues to this day where it has grown, evolved, and earned two Summit International marketing awards. The program’s goal is to bring awareness to Kingston’s rich and developing culinary and hospitality sector, enticing visitation and hotel stays.

Stand-Out Moments: 

Indigenous artisans, musicians, and ceremonial firekeepers created an authentic atmosphere which was an honour and privilege to witness. There was an Official Welcome by Clan Mother of the Mohawk Nation, Janice Hill, from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, and a closing panel discussion moderated by Natalie with all the chefs made the spirit of the day one to be cherished. 

Georgian Bay Lake trout cooked over open fire at the Isabel Bader Centre for Performing arts—a precedent setting experience for the Queen’s University building.
